Clinical Studies on Hair Growth by Image Analyser

Abstract

|
We performed clinical studies to examine the effect of the herbal extract on hair growth by image analyser. The herbal extract was a mixture of Corni Fructus, Eclipta Herba, Mori Fructus and Sanguisobae Radix which had been already seleted in
vitro
and
in vivo study. We divided twelve materials and the right side of the scalp with vehicle two times per day for six months. We captured the images on each side of scalp after 0 time, 3, 5 and 6 months and analyzed 1) hair-growth rate 2) No. of
newly
regenerated hairs 3) anagen/non-afficacy of prompting hair growth was 66% in MIRA-111 group which contained herbal extract and ethynyl estradiol and 33% in MIRA-112 group which contained only ethynyl estradiol. Ther result of this study suggests
that
the herbal extract stimulates hair growth and the phototrichogram analysis by stereomicroscope and image analyser is also very useful method for quantitative ervaluation of the effect on the hair growth.
